The cost of raw materials for home décor production is basically stable.
Grouping materials by source, 70 to 80 percent are domestic while the rest are imported.
Natural materials include bamboo, seagrass, water hyacinth, rattan and wood are from the provinces of Hoa Binh and Lai Chau in the North, and Ha Tay, Bac Ninh and Thai Binh in the Red River Delta Region. They also come from Nghe An, Thanh Hoa and Ha Tinh in the Central Coast. The materials are used for interior and exterior furnishings of decorative baskets, artwork frames, vases, lamps, and garden gazebos and bridges.
Bamboo and rattan are from the provinces of Lam Dong, Khanh Hoa and Quang Ngai.
Ceramic, clay, glaze, cement, and other additives and minerals are from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh cities, and Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Hue, Quang Nam, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Vinh Long and An Giang provinces. Clay is sourced from Lao Cai in the North, and Kien Giang and Vinh Long provinces in the South. Despite the ready availability of clay and ceramic, however, ceramic and pottery suppliers from crafts villages such as Bat Trang adopt both domestic and imported materials.
Metal, textiles and plastic are auxiliary materials. Wrought iron and brass are used for figurines, candle holders and basket frames. They are bought from metallurgy companies in Lao Cai, Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City.
On the other hand, colored glass for tiffany glass lamps is from the US and France.
