Tripods are essential in capturing moments while traveling but many are bulky and complicated to set up. Makers are releasing convenient models to address these typical tripod problems. Just recently, the new Lumapod, dubbed as the world’s fastest tripod, has been very popular in crowdfunding site Kickstarter. This model was in-demand and fully funded in less than 90 minutes.

What made people very interested in this tripod is that its telescopic pole and legs fully extend in four seconds. It is also stable, having durable Kevlar rope supports and a stable high-aluminum base. In terms of compatibility, Lumapod can be used to hold smartphones, and GoPro, mirrorless and DSLR cameras.

The fast tripod comes in versions that slide down into compact 85 and 120cm sizes that fit small travel bags. Besides being a space-saver, the product is also versatile. Lumapod can come with add-ons, including modular leg extensions and wheels.

Aside from Lumapod, many tripods such as those from China manufacturers are getting easier to set up and more portable. There are now variants that unfold in three steps or less, have multiple adjustable angles, and adopt quick-sliding telescopic necks. Some hold both light devices and heavy photography equipment.
