Despite an unsuccessful Kickstarter campaign, pi lab was unfazed and put on display Edwin, the world's first smart rubber duck, at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The gadget took home the 2016 Innovation KAPi award. It was also a finalist at the show's "Last Gadget Standing" competition, but ultimately lost to the Ripple Maker.

Edwin the Duck is a smart take on the classic rubber duck. It is an app-enhanced gadget that interacts with the child through games, lessons, stories and songs via a mobile device. The unit is made of silicone.

Edwin is also water-resistant, allowing the child to bring the toy in the tub. It functions as a thermometer, giving off warning alarms and lights if the water is too hot. The gadget also serves as a night light and Bluetooth speaker.

The smart toy was made available in Apple stores December 2015.
