Wireless charging technology may soon shed one of its most persistent limitations , slow charging speeds compared with traditional wired chargers. According to a recent report highlighted by Phandroid, the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) is preparing a significant update to its Qi2 wireless charging standard that would double the maximum power output from the current 25 watts (W) to an impressive 50W. This enhancement would mark a critical advancement, bringing wireless charging speeds much closer to the convenience and rapid pace of cabled charging, which has long outpaced the wireless alternative in raw charging speed.
