The hottest smartphones, tablets and wearables exhibited at the Mobile Electronics show from April 18 to 21 were abuzz with game-changing trends and latest features. Much hype was on drones as well as multifunction MFi accessories. Wearables also made a splash with exhibitors launching fancy jewelry with smart features.

Water-resistant earphones and rugged tablets were just some of the highlights at the show.

Here are the 11 big trends at the show:

1. Drones UAVs with longer battery life operating within at least 400m underscored drones’ expanding industrial applications.

2. MFi: A number of booths exhibited MFi accessories including cables, chargers and power cases. Also popular were solar power cases for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, and power cables with wireless charger, removable Lightning joint and micro-USB.

3. Samsung Galaxy 6 and Galaxy Edge accessories: Protective screen films were popular in several booths. Films are made of high-transparent material and are shock-resistant.

4. Water-resistant devices: From tablets to earphones, water-resistant devices were a big hit with several models bearing an IP 68 rating. Water tanks flooded the show to display devices’ capability to withstand water.

5. Dual-OS feature: Prevalent among tablets and smartphones is the dual-OS capability. Many devices on display were capable of running on both Windows and Android.

6. Smart jewelry: Smart necklaces with call and message reminders are both fashionable and functional. Smart jewelry exhibited at the show boasted colorful gemstones, beaded straps and changeable lockets on top of their digital functions.

7. Smart HD screen for devices: Tablets in smart HD screens garnered attention from show-goers. A smartphone boasting a 2K screen was also one of the standouts.

8. Smartphone cases: Case makers injected more aesthetic into their products by showcasing a selection of smartphone cases in vibrant colors and customized designs. Durability was also a key focus among exhibitors.

9. Sports headphones: These niche products feature an ergonomic fit and are resistant to sweat. Products can wirelessly stream audio from Bluetooth devices and have integrated controls for users on-the-go.

10. Rugged phones: Tri-proof phones designed for outdoor sports stood out with several models bearing IP 68 waterproof rating. Shock- and dust-resistant, phones include a walkie-talkie as an added feature.

11. Chinese brands: Exhibitors working on establishing their brands in other countries were also big at the show. Some of the makers’ target markets include the US and Europe.
