ProDrone’s Byrd model makes “portability” a selling point.

It may be strange to think of a drone as not being portable given that it can fly. However, transporting it by other means can actually be quite cumbersome. In fact, there are backpacks specifically designed to carry around drones.
ProDrone has a different solution, although it requires buying a new UAV.
The company’s new Byrd drone, announced in late 2015, is advertised as being "portable and powerful." Its "arms, propellers and landing gear all collapse into an iPad-sized package," the company said. The entry level model includes a 1080-pixel camera and costs $750. TechCrunch said in a recent review that it compares well with other entry-level drones such as the Phantom 3 Standard, but since DJI released the Phantom 4, the Phantom 3 price has fallen below $500.
Users can get more advanced features including a 4K camera and the ability for the Byrd to follow a user around, something the Phantom 4 can do as well. But those features come at an additional cost. Flight time is 25 minutes and it has built-in Wi-Fi that can transmit up to .62 miles. TechCrunch concludes that the Byrd is great for people looking to transport their drone to somewhere remote to get aerial photos and videos. Being able to fold into a more compact form means no special drone bag is necessary. It is also quite capable given the $750 price point, as the Phantom 4 costs almost twice as much at $1,400.
China suppliers already make foldable drones, although they are not made to compete with the likes of DJI. Foldable drones such as the Viki-01 model from Hunan Keyshare Information Technology include a built-in HD camera. Many China makers incorporate a camera gimbal into their units for those who want to use their own GoPro.
