A company called DxO recently released the DxO ONE, an iPhone- and iPad-compatible camera said to provide the ultra-high quality of a DSLR camera.

While DSLR still reigns supreme as the camera of choice for professionals, the integration of cameras with smartphones has meant that the days of the point-and-shoot consumer camera are numbered. For most consumers, smartphone lens attachments can provide a good alternative for high-MP cameras at a much lower cost. Nevertheless, the super-high resolution of DSLR cameras has never been replicated, even on high-end Nokia Lumia smartphones. A company called DxO claims to have changed that, however.
The company, which makes image processing software and hardware, recently released the DxO ONE, an iPhone- and iPad-compatible camera that the company claims can provide the ultra-high quality of a DSLR camera. The camera is small enough to fit in a pocket and connects to an iOS device via a Lightning connector on its side. The 20.2MP camera is capable of 1080p video, a max aperture of f/1.8 and shutter speeds of up to 1/8000th of a second.
Unfortunately for some consumers, the $600 camera is still in the low end of the dedicated DSLR camera range. The real question about this product is whether or not it will be able to disrupt higher-end cameras with its quality, connectivity and compact size. In addition, it is only a matter of time before other manufacturers are able to replicate the hardware and disrupt the current pricing model for the ONE.
