National Hardware Show’s Industry Edge recently published an article listing Harvard University Joint Center for Housing Studies’ outlook on bathroom trends. According to the report, the following bathroom styles and sanitaryware features are predicted to be popular next year:

1. Smart sanitaryware- Digital temperature controls on bathtubs or showers and touchless operation for toilets will become mainstream. Dual flush toilets have also been around for quite some time.

In China, suppliers are already offering intelligent toilet seats that are self-cleaning or can do massage, bathtubs with temperature settings, showerheads that play music and take calls, and smart towel racks.

2. The use of natural stone- This is projected to rise while ceramic and porcelain tiles are still considered to be the industry standards.

3. Floating vanities- Customers seek more modern options. Under-mounted sinks are still preferred.

4. Neutral, feminine colors-In terms of shades, neutrals in black, gray, and white are expected to be popular. Feminine prints, including floral and those in pink, could also experience an increase in demand for the coming year.
