Supercapacitors come in coin, winding and modular types. EDLCs dominate the line.
Supercapacitors with rated capacitance of 0.1 to 10,000F constitute the range in China. EDLCs lead, representing more than 90 percent of output, and pseudo- and hybrid capacitors make up the rest.
Organic types based on the electrolyte used have 2.5 or 2.7V rated voltage. Inorganic counterparts adopting aqueous electrolyte are usually in 1.5V. The former boasts higher energy density, owing to the greater operating voltage of the capacitors. Organic kinds form the mainstream supply.
In terms of configuration, there are coin, winding and modular supercapacitors.
Coin kinds feature double cells laminated into a single structure. Most have 0.1 to 5F and 5 or 5.5V rated voltage, and are mainly adopted in UPS, smart meters, A/V products, computers and peripherals, and toys. Winding variants are usually cylindrical and have 0.1 to 5,000F and 2.5 or 2.7V. Modular units are produced based on buyers’ capacitance and voltage requirements. Regardless of form, releases come with lead, snap-in, radial-tab or threaded terminals.
All interviewed suppliers such as Shenzhen Topmay Electronic Co. Ltd, Shandong Enerise Power Technology Co. Ltd and Shandong Goldencell Electronics Technology Co. Ltd focus production on activated carbon-based ELDCs and organic series. The third has annual production capacity of 30 million coin and 20 million cylindrical variants, and 10 million supercapacitor modules.
The carbon electrode material used by China manufacturers includes its variants such as activated carbon, activated carbon fibers, carbide-derived carbon, carbon aerogel, graphite or graphene, and carbon nanotubes. For separators, suppliers employ mainly polymeric film, polyacrylonitrile and Kapton.
Electrodes account for nearly 30 percent of total production cost, while electrolytes have between 15 and 40 percent portion.
Climbing output is expected to result in lowering prices of supercapacitors, with the rate of decrease estimated at 10 percent annually.

This SR2R73005Z-L model from Shandong Enerise Power Technology Co. Ltd has 3,000F capacitance, 2.7V rated voltage and <1mohm resistance. It operates in -40 to 65 C. Life span on standard charge and discharge exceeds 100,000 cycles.
The 550g unit measures 60.4mm in diameter and 138mm in length.
The maker requires a minimum order of 100 units. The delivery lead time is 7 days.

Shandong Goldencell Electronics Technology Co. Ltd's model SC5R5155Z supercapacitor has rated discharge capacitance of 1.5F and tolerance of -20 to 80 percent. The rated and surge voltages are 5.5 and 6V, while nominal impedance ratings are 25ohm in AC and 40ohm in DC.
The model has -25 to 70 C operating and -40 to 85 C storage temperatures. It weighs 3.5±0.5g. The minimum order is 100 units, and delivery is within three days.

Shandong Goldencell Electronics Technology Co. Ltd has the SR2R7506Z model with snap-in terminals. The supercapacitor has 50F rated discharge capacitance, -20 to 80 percent tolerance, and 2.7 and 2.85V rated and surge voltages. Impedance ratings are 25ohm in AC and 40ohm in DC. The unit supports -25 to 70 C operation and has -40 to 85 C storage temperature.
An order of at least 100 units is required. Delivery lead time is seven days.

The TMCS02 model from Shenzhen Topmay Electronic Co. Ltd has a life span of more than 100,000 hours. The coin supercapacitor comes in 0.2 to 8F 2.7V and 0.1 to 4F 5.5V series, with tolerance ranging from -20 to 80 percent at 25 C. It exhibits low ESR and has up to 1,000C discharge. The operating temperature is -25 to 70 C. Applications include ammeters, water and gas meters, wind power generators, UPS, electric vehicles and tools, car A/V devices and solar lights.
The minimum order is 10,000 units, with delivery lead time of 12 days.
