Footwear industry to benefit from the 19th International Technical Footwear Congress.
India's footwear industry has always been a major contributor to the country's leather exports. Based on an export data report covering April to August 2015 by the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics, footwear exports took up 36.28% of total leather exports. Now, these two industries (through the Council for Leather Exports) have collaborated to further boost both industries through the 19th International Technical Footwear Congress.
Organized by the International Union of Shoe Industry Technicians, this year's congress held from February 3 to 5, 2016 in Chennai, India features the "Future Footwear Factory," which will focus on design and technology advancement and adapting to the current changing markets.
The Council for Leather Exports, which promotes the Indian leather and footwear sectors, will be hosting the event.
