The skyrocketing popularity of gaming, driven by improving internet technology and infrastructure making diverse content more widely accessible, has opened a large market for hardware.
The market for gaming PCs, for instance, had an estimated value of $65.52 billion in 2025 and is forecast to reach $194.59 billion by 2035, according to market research and consulting firm Research Nester. This is a CAGR exceeding 11.5 percent from 2026, when this category is likely to hit $72.3 billion.
By the end of the forecast period, the report said that desktops would dominate with a market share exceeding 50 percent. Compared to laptops, desktops offer higher performance and easier and more cost-effective upgrade options.
One growth catalyst is the significant increase in the number of players worldwide. According to Newzoo, a market intelligence firm catering to the PC and console gaming sector, there were 3.427 billion gamers worldwide in 2024. This number is estimated to have increased to 3.578 billion the following year, with PC players accounting for 26 percent of the total.
This development, in turn, is raising demand for CPU coolers and case fans, especially as they play a key role in ensuring PCs’ better thermal management, stability and life span. Globally, the PC cooler market was on the scale of $1.95 billion in 2024, according to Verified Market Reports. It will expand at 7.3 percent CAGR from 2026 to 2033, reaching a value of $3.67 billion by the end of the forecast period.
Cooling technologies
To take advantage of this growing market, Chinese manufacturers of CPU coolers and case fans sustain product development work to boost performance, reduce noise level and prolong operating life span.
They are tapping into various technologies, including fan speed adjustment and liquid cooling. At present, the latter method is popular for its high ventilation efficiency and low noise.
Companies are considering the use of new metal and nanocomposites as well. These materials enhance cooling efficiency while lowering costs.
Integrating a smart control system is another available option to enable monitoring of temperature and adjustment of fan speed and liquid flow.
One example is Allseye’s i600 Pro, a 300W CPU cooler with dual PWM fans and six heat pipes. Its fans are equipped with double ball bearings, prolonging their life span. These have a speed range of 1,000 to 2,200rpm, air volume of 33.18 to 86.2CFM and fan pressure of 1.15 to 3.6mmH2O. This compact device, measuring 149x48x120mm, has a 2.83-inch TFT screen that displays computer parameters. It has 12VDC rated voltage, 0.02 to 0.3A rated current and 80,000-hour life span.
South China hub
Hundreds of manufacturers of CPU coolers and case fans are found in China, over two-thirds of them operating on a small and medium scale. The leading ones include Deepcool, PCCooler and Aigo, with the first two companies among the top 10 suppliers worldwide. There are also major players from overseas that have factories there as well. Thermaltake, Cooler Master, AVC, MSI and Corsair are some of them.
More than half of these suppliers are found in Guangdong and Fujian, specifically in Shenzhen, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Guangzhou and Xiamen.
Others are based in Suzhou and Changzhou in Jiangsu and Ningbo and Hangzhou in Zhejiang.
PCCooler, headquartered in Shenzhen, has subsidiaries and factories in other parts of Guangdong as well as in Hunan, Jiangxi and Zhejiang.
Only a few homegrown companies are expected to enter the line due to intense competition, especially in the low-end market.
Chinese manufacturers have been turning to other overseas destinations, such as Europe, Southeast Asia, South America and Russia, because of the high tariffs in the US.
China-made CPU coolers
Chinese suppliers offer air and liquid CPU coolers, with the latter type accounting for the bulk of their shipments. They accommodate requests for customization.
Typical units have a rated voltage of 12 or 5VDC, noise level of 15 to 35dB and life span of about 50,000 hours. These have fans with speeds ranging from 800 to 3,000rpm. The common product size is 120x120x25mm.
Makers usually use fins, pipes, pumps, fans, bases and LEDs sourced from domestic providers. The cost of copper fluctuated slightly in the past 12 months but that of other materials remained stable. Still, prices, especially of low-end and midrange products, went down as companies compete for market attention. In the next six months, material costs and product quotes will not change much.
