Shanda subsidiary Geak Technology has designed a smart watch with a classic round shape and an online appstore.

Geak Technology Co. Ltd has designed the Geak Watch for the second generation Geak Watch line. This latest device stands out from its predecessors as it now sports a round display for a more fashionable design. This smart watch resembles Motorola’s MOTO 360, which also uses round screen. However, the bottom sliver of the MOTO 360 screen cannot display an image because of the wire layout. Geak Technology has solved this by developing a technology for the Geak Watch 2 that provides a full round display. Some websites have claimed that Geak will develop its own OS similar to Android Wear to meet Chinese users’ needs. Additionally, the company started a project called “100,000 People Development” meant to help develop apps and the UI for the Geak Watch 2. A few functions of the watch are already known, such as PowerPoint control, phone unlock and remote control for model aircrafts.

This watch will be launched in September 2014, but the company has not yet published details about the hardware specifications. However, the company said the battery life of the Geak Watch 2 will be 75 percent longer than its first iteration, which means it should be able to last 18 days on standby.

Geak Technology is a subsidiary of Shanda Interactive Entertainment Ltd and was established in 2009. The company aims to be the biggest wearables company in China by 2015.
