HONG KONG, September 2026 — The Hong Kong SAR government's first five-year plan calls for strengthening the city's role as a two-way trade platform, optimizing the " Chinese Mainland Manufacturing + Hong Kong Services" model, and helping Chinese Mainland enterprises reach global markets while supporting leading Chinese brands in expanding internationally. Global Sources' Hong Kong shows, held every April and October, are putting that model into practice, serving as a key gateway connecting Asian manufacturers with buyers worldwide.
For Chinese Mainland brands, the hardest part of going global is rarely the product itself. It is distribution, compliance, and buyer trust. The shows bring together professional buyers from markets worldwide, allowing Chinese Mainland brands to meet buyers face-to-face, present their products, learn about market-specific requirements, and explore partnership opportunities without navigating multiple channels separately, directly aligning with the five-year plan's call for a platform to help Chinese Mainland enterprises reach global markets.
The October Shows will run from October 11 to 21 at AsiaWorld-Expo, bringing together more than 4,200 Asian suppliers across over 8,000 booths and showcasing over 330,000 new products across six core categories: consumer electronics, gaming hardware, mobile electronics, smart home security and appliances, lifestyle electronics, and sports and outdoor. As of September, pre-registered professional buyers are up 25% year on year, with particularly strong demand from Europe and North America, reflecting growing buyer interest in sourcing through Hong Kong.
Phase one (October 11–14) will focus consumer electronics and gaming peripherals, with more than 2,100 exhibitors across over 4,000 booths. It will feature leading Chinese Mainland brands in computer peripherals and gaming gear, alongside fast-charging, wireless charging, and energy storage suppliers showcasing products designed to meet EU Battery Regulation and carbon footprint requirements.
Phase two (October 18–21) will cover mobile electronics, smart home security and appliances, lifestyle electronics, and sports and outdoor, with more than 2,100 suppliers across over 4,000 booths. The "AI+" themed zone will feature AI glasses, AI-integrated products, and AI-powered devices, extending into wearables, smart pet products, and personal health under the lifestyle category. It will also debut the Global Mobile Electronics Trade Pavilion, organized with the Hong Kong International Communications Electronic Commerce Association, providing a compliant trading venue for second-hand mobile phones and related cross-border trade services. From compliance-ready exports to practical AI applications and circular-economy trade, the priorities laid out in the five-year plan are becoming real business opportunities at the shows.

James Liu, CEO of Global Sources, said: “Hong Kong's five-year plan calls for strengthening the city's two-way platform role. As a trade platform connecting Asian manufacturers with global buyers, our goal is not just to bring buyers and sellers together, but to help companies tie together the moving parts of going global, including compliance, marketing and supply chain. We will continue to deepen our services from Hong Kong: helping Chinese Mainland brands connect with global buyers more efficiently, while also giving global buyers a single destination in Hong Kong to source quality manufacturers and brands, so that ' Chinese Mainland manufacturing + Hong Kong services' is not just a slogan but a workable model."
