Wedding blog stylemepretty.com revealed recently the engagement ring trends to watch out for this 2016.

In one of its previous posts, the website said that colored diamonds are becoming the choice stones for many brides-to-be as these add a twist to the classics.

For those who feel that diamonds are overrated, hued gemstones will be popular alternatives. According to vintage jewelry brand Trumpet and Horn, many couples prefer colored gems as they can have bigger pieces without shelling out a lot. Aquamarine, emerald and sapphire, in particular, are expected to receive increased attention.

For bands, rose gold is gaining ground as it adds a touch of femininity and romance, and is suitable for all skin tones.

Three-stone settings, also known as trilogy rings, such as those from engagement ring specialists Robbins Brothers and James Allen will also be among the favorites this year.

Vintage rings are expected to be in high demand as well, with Victorian-inspired pieces leading the way. Engagement rings adopting antique stones and recycled metal are likewise anticipated to be on the spotlight.
