Although admittedly the biggest news in fashion electronics is the imminent release of the “iWatch,” Apple’s wearable electronic gadget as dubbed by everyone but Apple, it is only one of many wearable devices to be launched in the next six months.

LG, for one, has released details about its G Watch, an Android Wear-powered smart watch expected to be introduced in summer-2014. The "always on" water-resistant gadget will have Google Now functionality, including the ability to use voice commands. Google has been particularly aggressive in pushing its Android Wear OS to OEMs and manufacturers.

Asus jumped on the bandwagon with its thin Liquid Leap smart wristband/watch. Designed mainly for fitness and wellness applications, the product is water-resistant, and tracks sleep, steps, distance traveled and estimated calories burned. It can also control music tracks on a linked smartphone. The price point is expected to be in the range of 100 euros in Europe when released, although Asus has not officially released pricing.

The smart watches market is still in its infancy, and more early industry players such as Motorola, HTC and Samsung, and fashion brands, Fossil for example, are expected to release their selections in the near future. Fitness application products alone have the chance to edge in on the $300 million fitness tracker market led by FitBit and Jawbone.
