Switzerland-based watchmaker Movado teams up with US information technology specialist Hewlett-Packard Co. to release its first technology-enabled timepiece called the Movado Bold Motion.
The watch comes in stainless steel with a black PVD finish or all-black PVD finish. Both styles have a black silicone strap lined with 3M reflective material and are water-resistant up to 50m.
Movado did not intend the model to look too techy, hence the typical analog watch appearance. Rather than an app-heavy digital display, for instance, the Bold Motion features a 44mm blue or white LED backlit face.
Wearers cannot use the watch to respond to text messages or read e-mails. Instead, the LEDs in the watch face display a specific pattern and send haptic feedback vibration that serve as text or e-mail notification. Users can also choose what notifications to receive, including social alerts and calendar events.
The Bold Motion also integrates a step tracker, which shows daily progress via the ring around the face. Wearers can set up their daily step goals from the accompanying app, which is Android and iOS compatible.
The watch is now available at Movado's website for $695.
