New Lycra knitted denim collection debuts at Kingpins

Invista, the US-based company behind the Lycra brand, teams up with Garmon Chemicals, a denim finishing house from San Marino, to launch a collection of knitted denim clothing at the recently concluded Kingpins Show in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The garments adopt Invista's Lycra Hybrid technology and Garmon's latest finishing techniques, which includes GreenScreen for Safer Chemicals-assessed formulations. The latter allows companies to evaluate, compare and communicate information on chemical toxicity.

"We are very excited to demonstrate the finishing options available with Lycra Hybrid technology. Knit denim, while growing, is still at the early stages of development, and it's important to understand best practices for wet and dry processing. Given Garmon's unique chemical processes and Italian inspired design, we felt they would be the perfect company to help us with this initiative," Invista's global segment director for denim Jean Hegedus said in an interview with fashion trends website fashionunited.com.

The Lycra Hybrid technology enables denim producers to create fabrics that have the comfort and flexibility of a knitted textile, and the authenticity and performance of a woven denim. This makes the partnership possible.

"We are seeing a growing consumer desire for casual apparel that incorporates both performance attributes and environmentally sound manufacturing practices. The combination of knit denim containing Lycra Hybrid technology and garment finishes using GreenScreen assessed chemical auxiliaries sparks unique product attributes, as well as design and quality excellence," said Alberto De Conti, chief marketing officer of Garmon.

In addition to the Lycra Hybrid collection, Invista introduced two new warming technologies under the Thermolite Pro brand, and a line of commercial-use textiles using the LycraDual FX techology under the Lycra Beauty brand at Kingpins.
