Proximity sensors are devices that detect the presence or absence of nearby objects without requiring physical contact, making them useful in a wide range of environments and applications. They can operate quickly, reliably and with minimal wear.

In today’s automation trend, these sensors play an especially important role because they help  detect position, movement and objects in real time. This supports smarter control systems, improves efficiency, reduces human error and enhances workplace and home safety.

In China, proximity sensors that can be sourced are based on infrared, electromagnetic-wave, ultrasonic, inductive and capacitive technologies, with inductive types commonly adopted in consumer electronics and smart home devices. Other sensors target applications in industrial automation and medical equipment.

Typical specifications are a rated voltage of 10 to 30V and a rated current of less than 30mA, with output method of NPN or PNP. Water-resistant versions are available, usually with a rating over IP65.

These sensors are made using sensing components, signal processors, transistors, relays and shells sourced from domestic or foreign providers depending on customers’ preferences. They are UL-listed, CE-marked and RoHS-compliant.

The cost of these manufacturing inputs has not fluctuated significantly in recent months, ensuring stable component pricing. This trend is expected until end-2026.
