High growth is due to strong demand for intelligent locks in smart cities.
The global smart doorbell market is forecasted to post a hefty 78.09 percent growth annually through 2021, according to a recent report by Research and Markets.
Among the keys to the industry’s big growth figure is said to be high demand for smart locks. Many locks offered by suppliers today are also doorbells, intercoms, biometric access control units and door video cameras on their own. The last feature is “hot” in the US, for there is a need to better secure packages that homeowners allow to leave at doorsteps. Per the report, the latest models sell well for users can easily pair them with mobile phones and wearables to unlock doors. With many homes and cities jumping into the smart living trend, the product line is poised to gain more traction.
Research and Markets also points out that connectivity is both a convenience and a challenge. How fast communities will completely adopt smart locking and doorbell systems will depend on available networks and their speed in each market or region. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi were mentioned as common connections. Some smart locks and doorbells are starting to use ZigBee and Z-Wave standards to link to other smart devices.
