UK-based Westland Horticulture released the Gro-Sure Smart Seed that grows during any season and does not need to be watered regularly.

Gardening greenhorns often have difficulty maintaining lawns due to problems such as bald spots, grubs, weeds, and lack of sunlight. Many are unaware as to what type of seeds they should plant, how to apply the fertilizer, and what irrigation system to use.
To address this problem, UK-based Westland Horticulture came up with the Gro-Sure Smart Seed. Each lawn seed has a coating that makes it unappetizing to birds. The Aqua Gel has a water-storing gel layer that can absorb up to 400 times its weight and releases water whenever the seed needs it. The lawn seed can grow during any season. However, it is best to sow it in spring and autumn on land area covering up to 25sqm. The low-maintenance smart seed is suitable for lawn owners who do not water on a regular basis. Seasoned gardeners might still prefer standard lawn seeds due to variety and complexity but will appreciate the minimal maintenance that the said smart seed requires.
