One book, one person, made Xu Shaochun surrounded by microphones again at the end of last year.

The book is "ERP Changes China", full of Xu's quotations, such as "Chinese software has only hope, no disappointment", "I know when to 'bright sword'". The person is He Jinghua, who airborne Kingdee from UF, causing an uproar in the industry.

With slightly pale hair and a gentle face, he is still "Xu Huan" when he speaks, "Let all business people use Kingdee's software, and let Chinese companies fly!" However, the CEO who will also serve as the CEO until now After the job was handed over to He Jinghua, Xu Shaochun would only continue the exploration in the book as the "Chief Architecture Officer". These are also the two major tasks that Xu Shaochun set for himself after graduating from EMBA, which he completed simultaneously in less than two years.

The Kingdee flying out of "Fire"

Xu Shaochun's "flame" name is not a false rumor. This man from Yuanjiang, Hunan "burns" wherever he goes; otherwise, he is still in an accounting firm in Shenzhen, or is waiting to retire in a large state-owned factory.

In 1988, 25-year-old Xu Shaochun entered the first "test tube" of China's reform and opening up. The previous three years of living in a factory and three years of intensive study in graduate school had already made this master of computerization in accounting unable to sit still. As soon as he graduated, he came to the Zhonghua Accounting Firm in Shekou, Shenzhen to report.

Undergraduate in the Department of Computer Science of Southeast University, graduate student under the famous accountant Yang Jiwan, Xu Shaochun quickly became familiar with the work of the computer department, and at the same time greedily absorbed the new air of the special zone. At that time, the wave of entrepreneurship in Shenzhen was giving birth to countless small companies with a few people and one office. The impetus behind the Shenzhen government also made the young department manager excited.

"Actually at that time, I didn't know what success was? What was failure? I just had an idea since I was a child, that is to do something and become an influential person. I think I prefer to change some things. In rural Hunan, I wanted to change my living conditions since I was a child."

Fifteen years later, Xu Shaochun, who shouted "ERP changes China", first changed himself in that spring.

Although he has always been better at dealing with numbers than people, Xu Shaochun made the decision to quit his job and start a business. "It was very hard to do financial get off work (by hand) at that time. Others were off work, and they were still accounting." The first entrepreneurial plan he thought of was his expertise, financial software. As a result, a more than 100-page feasibility report was stamped with the approval seal of the Science and Technology Bureau and the mayor's signature. To this day, officials from the Science and Technology Bureau still remember it vividly, saying that this is the best feasibility report they have ever seen.

In early 1992, when Xiaoping's "Southern Tour" train arrived in Shenzhen from Wuchang, Kingdee's predecessor "Shenzhen Aipu Computer Technology Co., Ltd." officially opened. There are only two of him in the company, and there is a 286 that he borrowed from his father-in-law to buy. On this computer, "Aipu Financial Software" from V1.0 to V3.0 was knocked out by him one by one, and passed the appraisal of Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Finance, making it well-known in the field. Xu Shaochun, whose confidence has increased greatly, is determined to turn his talent into a lifetime career. With the support of foreign capital, "Kingdee Software Technology Co., Ltd." was established in August of the following year.

"All the joys in life are the joys of creation. Love, action,...genius, all rely on the fire in the chest to spray out", Xu Shaochun loves to quote this passage in "John Christopher" talk. Kingdee, which started from scratch, inspired the "fire" creativity of this software genius, and then the successive opportunities of products and capital became the two most critical steps of Kingdee in the last century.

In 1996, Xu Shaochun seized the opportunity to switch from DOS to Windows and launched the first Windows version of financial software in China, becoming an industry leader in the country overnight. In 1998, he took advantage of his success and introduced 20 million yuan in cash from IDG, an American venture capital firm, which accelerated Kingdee's doubling in size.

It seems that the two cards that were played out according to common sense were considered the first time to eat crabs at the time. Windows in 1996 was like Vista in 2006. Everyone said it would take two or three years to become popular. Excessive development and use costs prohibit almost all Chinese counterparts. Likewise, venture capital at the time meant more "risk". Xu Shaochun and his colleagues have held numerous meetings for this purpose. McGovern, chairman of IDG, also came to Shenzhen to persuade him, "I hope you can see farther." A telescope given to Xu Shaochun when he parted may have inspired him to start his capital journey.

On February 15, 2001, Xu Shaochun was rarely drunk. That night, the employees of Kingdee were also drunk. On the morning of the same day, Kingdee International Software Group Co., Ltd. was officially listed on the Growth Enterprise Market of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, becoming the first private software company in mainland China to be listed on the Growth Enterprise Market of Hong Kong.

Afterwards, Xu Shaochun's success has been a prairie fire for ten years after winning a large order in Hong Kong, entering the US market, and acquiring Kaisi Software. In the field of domestic financial software, especially ERP, Kingdee is going farther and farther, and only UFIDA is left to go with him.

  • "Butterfly Change" starts from myself

"From Excellent to Excellent" and "Everlasting Foundation" are books that Xu Shaochun has read many times, and they have also become the propositions he thinks about when Kingdee's tenth anniversary is approaching : "How can a software company like Kingdee become bigger?"

Faced with the pattern of "Kingdee in the south and UF in the north" and the aggressiveness of SAP, "Xu Huan" once again felt the same passion ten years ago. "I am a person who likes competition. If there is no competition, my enthusiasm will not be aroused, and my brain will be in a 'dormant' state; but when there is competition, the fighting spirit will come, and when I feel threatened, I will immediately become like a Like a lion!"

In 2002, Xu Shaochun entered the EMBA class of China Europe International Business School with problems. Perhaps it is "bystander clear", students from other industries wake up the dreamer: "Are you going to be a product developer or a service provider?" Without core competitiveness, no matter how large the scale is, it is temporary. The theoretical analysis of the teacher in the strategy class also answered his questions.

"As a management software provider, Kingdee is not comparable to the best domestic companies in terms of management. What's more, there is no difference between advanced and backward management itself, only whether it is suitable or not, and whether it is effective or not. The software industry, We have been doing it for ten years, and looking back, we found that Kingdee is best at making products." Before graduating from EMBA, the butterfly change in his mind had already brought changes to Kingdee.

Not long after the Spring Festival of 2003, in the Rainbow Hall on the second floor of Beijing International Hotel, "Product Leading, Partners First - Kingdee EAS Strategy Conference" announced the first "butterfly change" of Kingdee ten years after its founding. The "product-leading" strategy was written into the company's strategic planning from Xu Shaochun's discussion in the EMBA class. From ERP to EAS (Enterprise Application Suite), it has become the new direction of Kingdee's product line.

Xu Shaochun's unquenchable flame has also ignited a passionate culture of "love, integrity, and innovation" within the company; at the same time, it warms every Kingdee employee and even their children.

In his spare time, he likes to play basketball with his employees besides climbing, swimming and golfing. Xu Shaochun knows the hearts of employees. Therefore, he hopes that Kingdee can make employees "five sons", that is, houses, bills, cars, masters or wives and children. At present, Kingdee employees have held nearly 50 million stock options. Even the "Kingdee Pictorial" within the company publishes photos of employees' children in every issue, and often invites employees' families to participate in activities.

Behind the passion, Xu Shaochun and Kingdee discovered something more lasting, that is love. This deeply rooted "parent-child culture" is what he first advocated. In addition, the "tail-cutting action" that has been implemented in the enterprise for several years also comes from the "butterfly change" that began with him. Xu Shaochun doesn't like being called "Mr. Xu" by others. He called on all employees to cut off the title of "general" and replace them with a Chinese or English name without any job color, and only allowed others to call him "Robert".

He said, "In the early days of the company, it was me who had the final say, and the authority came more from me. Now it comes from the management and every member of the board of directors. And I, more imagining the future, I like to change the old things."

Now, Xu Shaochun has fired himself from the CEO position. He Jinghua and Kingdee employees are increasingly entrusting his dream of "butterfly change" to realize. In Xu Shaochun's view, each step does not have to be too big, as long as he follows his fellow countryman's "protracted war" idea, Kingdee will one day become China's SAP.
