Compared to conventional lead-acid batteries, VRLA types are maintenance-free and they are sealed, preventing leakage and fumes. They have low self-discharge and are capable of deep cycling.
In China, VRLA batteries are available in AGM and gel types, with the latter getting more attention for the key advantage of vibration resistance. Gel batteries will see increasing shipments in the next two years, according to manufacturers interviewed by Global Sources Electronic Components.
Another developing trend is for smart VRLA batteries, which integrate Bluetooth technology to enable status monitoring using a smartphone. Xiamen Songli New Energy Technology Co. Ltd has patented such feature in its new batteries, which have an additional function of sending an alarm when abnormal operation is detected.
Mainstream VRLA batteries from Chinese companies suit UPS, power supply, communications, data center, security and medical applications. By capacity and rated voltage, the choices are 500mAh to 3,000Ah, and 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12V. Life span typically ranges from 1,000 to 2,000 cycles. Products meet CE, RoHS and UL, with some suppliers getting additional certification from Germany's VdS for fire safety and security, and TLC in China.
Anode and cathode materials, separators, electrolytes, safety valves, cases and covers used in China's VRLA battery production come from domestic companies. After a slight increase in 2020, the cost of these inputs is expected to stabilize in coming months and keep product prices unchanged.
4.5Ah, 6V
For weighing scales, Kaiying Power Supply & Electrical Equipment Co. Ltd’s 6.5V4.5ah-6375 VRLA battery has 4.5Ah capacity and 6V nominal capacity. Maximum discharge current is 45A and internal resistance 23mohms. Dimensions are 70x40x99mm. An order of at least 1,000 units is required for delivery within 15 days.
4.5Ah, 4V
This 4V-rated VRLA battery from Kaiying Power Supply & Electrical Equipment Co. Ltd, the 4V4.5-0793 model, offers 4.5Ah rated capacity and can be used in electronic scales, alarms and lighting. It weighs 510g. Minimum order is 3,000 units. Delivery takes 15 days.

Shenzhen Jeidar Electronics Co. Ltd offers the NP12007-7989 model with 7Ah rated capacity and 12V rated voltage. Float voltage is 13.5 to 13.8VDC. The VRLA battery is 151x65x94mm and 2.05kg. A minimum order of 500 units is required, to be delivered within 21 days.

The model NP12150 from Shenzhen Jeidar Electronics Co. Ltd is a VRLA battery, which has 12Ah rated capacity, 12V rated voltage and 13.5 to 13.8VDC float voltage. Product dimensions are 485x172x240mm and net weight is 44kg.
The supplier requires a minimum order of 500 units. Delivery is within 21 days.
With real-time status monitoring
Xiamen Songli New Energy Technology Co. Ltd's YTZ5S-BS model is a patented smart battery, which supports real-time monitoring of voltage and temperature. This VRLA battery alerts the user to abnormal operation to prevent malfunctions. It has a 30-day delivery lead time. Minimum order is 500 units.
4.5Ah, 4V
This VRLA battery from Xiamen Songli New Energy Technology Co. Ltd, the SL4-4.5 model, has rated capacity of 4.5Ah, rated voltage of 4V and operating temperature of -25 to 50 C. It has F1 terminals and weights about 480g. An order of at least 500 units is required. Delivery is within 30 days.
