Is LG bringing the projector back in a world of LCD?

Home theater projectors have been losing share over the past decade as the increasing availability of large-screen flat-panel monitors. Many projectors require significant installation time and cost to properly mount, and many homes don't have the necessary layout. LG recently put a new home theater projector on display, however, that could address these problems.
The MiniBeam PF1000 projector is not only compact, but is able to beam a screen 100in in diameter at a distance of 38cm or about 14in. The projector uses a technology that LG calls "Short Distance Focus" that allows the unit to be placed about 10 times closer than existing projectors. The MiniBeam PF1000 is capable of full HD with a brightness of 1,000 lumens and a contrast ratio of 150,000:1.
The whole device weighs a little less than 2kg, and includes Bluetooth for sound connectivity and a Wi-Fi module to connect with computers, game consoles, smartphones and tablets. Its small size and portability makes it potentially easy to move around within a home or even to take it on the road.
